ONE DAY SCHOOL TRIPS

Sightseeing cruise on the boat “Tatjana”.

The Great Bački Canal (GBC) is located in the central section of the "Gornje Podunavlje" (Upper Danube) special nature reserve. Its upper stream links Sombor with the towns Bački Monoštor and Bezdan representing a unique habitat for rare birds (such as the white-tailed eagle and the black stork) and species of plants (including the white water lily).

Our teaching aims and tasks of this excursion are to educate the children about the history of the Great Bački Canal, give an insight into the culture and customs of the local population on the route from Sombor to Bački Monoštor and Bezdan route, as well as developing ecological awareness. This kind of open-air class allows children to spend the whole day having fun in nature while learning about the region.

 Safety is highly important to us, which is why we provide life vests and a dedicated crewmember in charge of safety while on board.

Excursion program:

9 AM departure from Sombor bathing resort Strand lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes, one way.

During this voyage we educate the children about the history, significance, trivia, flora and fauna of the GBC. We offer live music entertainment for the children with age appropriate repertoire.

On arrival in Bački Monoštor we will take the horse drawn carriage (eco taxi) and visit the honey-making household, “Mali Bodrog” (Little Bodrog) ethno house and blacksmith workshop. At every location we provide relevant education as well as tasting of the bee products, home made juices etc.

1 PM home made lunch (chicken soup, battered steak, salad). After lunch we visit the Eco Centre and learn more about the Upper Danube as well as the opportunity for recreational time. 4:30 PM departure to Sombor followed by a quiz with rewards and live music. 6 PM arrival on Strand.
